Garter Stitch That Goes Forever

...and ever and ever. I'm still knitting the ginormous Garter Stitch Square of Doom. I had a big assignment due for my class, so I didn't get much done. And I swatched. Berets look awful on me, but I just got gauge. Gauge is powerful. You know how it goes. Pictures soon. I need to catch up on some sleep.

Spin, Study, Knit

It's been almost a week. Between work and classes, I hardly got any knitting or spinning done, except what I manage on the train. Here is a picture of my Bridgewater shawl. It's the huge garter stitch square in the middle. Almost halfway there, have to keep going -- it'll be pretty when it's done. The alpaca silk yarn is so smooth and soft and airy, and it has a bit of a sheen to it.

I also bought another spindle. Saw the Chinese dragon, couldn't resist. It's from Yorkieslave on etsy, and I love it. Such lovely detail, and such a smooth spin. The batt came with it, and I can't wait to get spinning -- it's cute and little and glittery.

If you're wondering what happened to my zombie yarn... well, this is about half of it. Yes, the white bits actually glow in the dark. How cool is that?

As you can see, it's pretty thick-and-thin. It's the darndest thing... I used to have to work so hard to get even yarn. Now? When I don't pay attention, it turns out all thin and even, which is not a good thing in yarn inspired by the brain-eating hordes. Making art yarn takes a lot more work and thought than regular yarn. But it's fun.

We've got Class

It's been over a week since my last post, eep! It's not that I haven't been knitting -- it's that I've been taking classes. My first homework assignment was due on Saturday, and by the time I had everything set up so I could submit it, it was pretty last-minute.

But never fear, there will be knitting content. I just wasn't sure anyone would want to see a quarter of a large brown garter stitch square. It will become the Bridgewater shawl from the Brooklyn Tweed pattern book, but right now, it's boring brown garter stitch.
