I was going to show you the progress on my Monkey socks today. Yeah. Well. That didn't work out so well. Maybe these socks are cursed, or maybe I misunderstood the yarn when I thought it said it wanted to be a pair of Monkeys. After all, human-to-yarn communication is by no means infallible, there are thousands and thousands of knitters who can attest to this.
So far, I've cast on three times. The first time, I just really didn't like how messy the caston looked. Rip. The second time, I was quite happy with my caston, my usual knit/purl longtail approach. Everything was fine, I started tugging on the loop to pull the stitches in position... and ended up pulling on the wrong needles. Stitches in my hand, not on the needle. Rip.
This morning, I almost made it. I cast on, things were great. I started knitting, things were still great. Hey, it's amazing how quickly the ribbing grows when you're using US 1, not US 0 needles! Only 3 rows, and look at how big... oh, wait. Crap. It said twisted rib, didn't it?
Rip.
So later today, during lunch or after work, I'll cast on a fourth time. And if that doesn't work out, I'll conclude that these socks are cursed and move on.

I hate when the yarn does that to you! Sometimes I just have to set it down and start something else, but I admire your perserverance. I know it will work this time. Knit that yarn into submission!
Oh no! The curse is spreading! I thought we had full containment. Will try to quarantine...
May the force be with you Batty :) Fourth time is always the best!
eh, i think i would've just stuck with attempt #3. maybe your yarn doesn't want to be twisted rib.
good luck on attempt #4
Good Luck! I give up after three times, sometimes even sooner, than I go straight to stockinette.
I have my fingers crossed for you!
The yarn might be telling you something. ;)
Then again, I knit cursed school sweaters every year like a moron. You'd think I'd have figured it out by now.
Brave girl! Bad yarn! Hope 4th's time a charm.
Agreed, if you have a, fourth, failed attempt, then the yarn is telling you it wants to be something else! Good luck :)
That sucks! I had problems like that with my Jaywalkers too, and I didn't listen. Better luck next time!
Oh, that sucks! Sometimes are knitting forgets that it's supposed to be relaxing.
(hugs) Hoping Yes!! 4time charmer!
Ripping once is bad enough, but three times? arg! Best of luck the next cast on will be the right one for you!
