The Monkey Socks, formerly known as the cursed socks, are done. They were fun to knit, and I just love the yarn. Dyed by Merlin the Cat, not to be confused with my cat Merlin, an a joy to work with.
Here is the necessary sock blocker shot. Because they are not for me, there's no point in showing them on my feet. I tried, and they look lumpy and bumpy and not stretched enough. Ah, the joys of skinny ankles!
A closeup of just one sock:
And a closeup of the pattern.
Neat, huh?
Here are the details, because I know you are dying to know.
Pattern: Monkey socks by Cookie A.
Yarn: Sock yarn dyed by Merlin the Cat in the Blueberry Nut colorway
Needles: US #1 and 0
Comments: I have really skinny ankles. I should have started on #0s, but didn't feel like ripping out all the knitting I'd done on the 1s. No wonder everybody else just cranks 'em out, socks knit up so much faster on bigger needles! Anyhow, I knit 62 rows on the bigger needles, then switched to the smaller needles and finished total of 7 repeats. After attaching the heel, I did 2 extra decrease rows (on the bottom of the foot, so as not to mess with the lace pattern on the instep). And that's pretty much it.
Wanna see what the cats have been up to?
That's them on top of the medicine cabinet in the bathroom. Right under the ceiling. All cats like high up, but Morgana has an obsession with the ceiling. Ooooh, ceiling!

I really like that colorway. It's so interesting and so pretty and yet will match many things. Good call. :)
I think I would freak out if I walked into the bathroom and saw them up there!
Oooh I need to make me some Monkeys. Those are nice!
I second what Bina said. The colorway is wonderful, and it works so well with the pattern.
You're welcome to some of my ankle bulk any time you need it, by the way.
They look great - realy nice colours.
And I dream of having skinny ankles......
Those turned out fabulously! I love the colorway too!
And those kitties! They certainly are UP to something! My goodness. Amazes me how they get up there!
Mmm..Blueberry Nut Monkeys! That sounds like a new breakfast cereal!
I'm convinced cats like it up high so they can look down on us humans.
Monkey-licious! I love blue and brown together!
And look at those kittehs - all grown up! :)
I love your Monkey Socks - great colors! I myself can only dream of having skinny ankles.
I am impressed by how high up Merlin and Morgana can go.
Your monkeys look great!
Beautiful! I love how those turned out! I'm glad you got them finished. I love that color combination.
The socks are lovely. I really like that colorway.
Nice Monkeys!
Don't cats already look down on humans? This way, they can do it physically as well. ;)
They look great!
The curse has been lifted!! The socks look great.
the kitties are just trying to commune with "ceiling cat". ;) they sure are getting big!
Really nice socks! Lucky receiver!

You have monkey socks and monkey cats!
I have the opposite problem with socks (I have large ankles and calves). It just demonstrates one of the major challenges and benefits to knitting: when we tinker with patters we can alter them to suit our individual bodies, but sometimes that’s such a lot of trouble…
Thank you thank you for your sweet comment in my blog. I have missed you. Love the kitty pics... I'm hoping to get a couple myself, this summer!
Very pretty colors. Like a beautiful piece of turquoise!Your kitties are as silly as mine.
My cat was on the refrigerator once, freaked me out when she stood up and stretched...
Hiya!! I don't have your e-mail address. Could you send me a quick note please?? (With Batty Adventures in Spooky Knitting in the subject field! Haha)
Here is my e-mail addy: crimsondiva1999@yahoo.com

Great colors too!
They look great! I love that colorway! yum!
Our vet once commented to me that cats would walk on the ceiling if they could figure out how to do it.
Great monkey socks!... Why do cats love the bathroom?
They turned out quite lovely. Your sister is a lucky girl getting such pretty Monkey socks.
ohhh I love how the socks turned out!
