I have several projects going. A pair of socks for my sister, a (very late) birthday knit for my sister, a nearly-finished headband for myself. So what do I do? I pick up the latest issue of Knitscene, Take one look at the Geodesic Cardigan, and start winding yarn.
In all fairness, this is part of my stash reduction project. I have two of these large hanks of Morehouse Merino laceweight. I bought them years ago, when they still had a brick-and-mortar store in Red Hook, NY.
And here it is, all wound up. I had some yarn breakage, hence the two balls, but I'll use the little one to swatch. The colors are closer to the real thing in the top picture. But I wanted to show off those balls. I wound them by hand. 880 yards of laceweight. Took over an hour. Now the swatching. I love this pattern!
In other news, my mother send us a box from Germany. No food, per my request (it's wintertime, and all I want to do is eat, eat, eat). Some sweaters for me, a nice sweater for Mr. Batty... and this box. The cat loves this box.
German box, with flap. Perfect size for a cat. It has been claimed.

I can't wait to see this knit up! If I can find some suitable lace yarn in my stash, I may have a mini-unofficial-knitalong with you, because it's lovely!
Also, the next time you have hundreds of yards of lace-weight to wind, let me know! I got a ball winder for Christmas, and nobody should have to endure 1600 yds of hand-winding!
That is a gorgeous sweater and that color is going to be perfect for it!!
Eeek!!! Cutie kitty in box alert! Love!
Well, of course the box was for the kitty!
Love that yarn color. =)
Never met a cat worth its fur that didn't appreciate a nice box.
Nice yarn, and a great pattern. Can't wait to see it!
The yarn is lovely!
And I hope the train stops at your station very soon :)
Such beautifully colored yarn! Looking forward to your sweater.
I'm with the [smarty boots] cat. Love the box!!
I wish I had your self-control when it comes to sock yarn! You're my hero.
I love that sweater & your yarn choice!!
Wow, that's some beautiful yarn, and will be perfect for the cardigan! Can't wait to see your progress. I bet it will be stunning.
You deserve some knitting for you!
And a kitty arrived all the way from Germany--how cool! :)
I was just cruising through some yarn sites and I love your blog! I am new to blogging and wanted to invite you to visit mine. Come on over to luvme2xs.blogspot.com
