It's mid-October already? Where did September go?
Time flies when you're trying to get things done in time for the holidays! I've suddenly realized that Christmas is closer than I thought, and that there is a whole bunch of gift knitting to be done. But first, I have to get some WIP's off the needles.
These are the October mystery socks for SKA 09, designed by Nancy Bush. The month's challenge was "yellow" -- and boy, was it ever! I'm not much of a yellow person, but the deep, gold tones really spoke to me. Must be an autumn thing.
I had to contort myself considerably to get this picture. And yes, those are big full moons with witches and bats flying through them on my pj's. Because... well, there are bats.
Boring details:
Pattern: Fox Faces by Nancy Bush, SKA 09 October mystery sock
Yarn: Fleece Artist Merino sock yarn in Saffron
Needles: US #0/2mm
Comments: Knit exactly as written. At first, they were a bit loose in the ankle, but now that they're finished, they fit very well. The Dutch heel fits my skinny heel beautifully, but the toe, while pretty, is better for people with narrow toes (which I don't have -- I have duck feet).
And, because I can never be without at least one pair of socks on the needles: the beginning of some men's socks. Yet another try at toe-up, we'll see how it goes.
I actually have some non-socks on the needles right now, but as I said, we're getting into the holiday season, and showing what I'm up to will get a bit more difficult.
I'll try to make up for it with spinning and baked goods!

Very pretty socks! I like that autumn yellow color a lot.
I love the color of your socks!
It's a big harvest moon yellow! Love them!
The pattern on the yellow socks is great! Great work! Hope you got to your spinning and baking!
Beautiful socks! And I'm glad the fireplace scare is over. And the health scare! Your week sounds as bad as mine. Let's hope next week is better :)
Those socks look very cozy. And pretty, too. I like that golden yellow. They will be good for inspiring cheerfulness in the cold weather ahead.
Love those socks! For a second there I thought the second pair was toe socks and I thought, "huh, that is interesting." :)
I really like the gold socks and it looks the the toe up is going well! I love knitting socks that way - I'm hoping it works out.
Lovely job on the socks! Yellow speaks to me as well, but all year round. ;)
Very pretty socks! They're a great colour.
I'm not a yellow person, but your pair are quite pretty.
I can't wait to see how your man socks come out, I'll be making some for my hubby soon, have yet to pick a pattern though.
That yellow is really pretty, fits the season too!
You are so good at knitting your socks I love this colour you have used. I thought of you when I saw this complicated sock pattern at http://knitty.com Outside In. Summer 2009. by Janice Kang. If I could do this I would have ago. best wishes julie.C
Actually I would call those gold rather than yellow based on my monitor view. I have duck feet also. I think I must need yellow socks, too. I can put Dutch heels on my list of sock heels to try.
I love those socks--color, pattern and all.
