Ribbit

Today was a not-so-good knitting day. For the first time ever, I messed up undoing a provisional caston. It was done right, but somehow, I started from the wrong end, and that was that. I ended up ripping 7 inches of Manos Silk Blend, which, it turns out, doesn't like the rough treatment. With any luck, I won't need that partial ball to finish my project. After I start it again, which is not happening today.

I'm doing a whole bunch of gift knitting, but can't show that off yet either... I'll have something interesting soon, I promise!

ouch! Am hoping the finished project will be better for all your pain -- at least it's a rainy weekend, so there's more knitting time ahead...

oh well: there are just days like that. Manos Silk Blend sounds yummy!

Thanks for your comment on my boy's cargo pants: I really enjoy the joint design process where he discusses fabric and thread color etc with me. Fun!

Here's a tip I learned recently about dong a provisional cast-on. If you use the crochet cast-on - when you're done chaining what you need, keep chaining a few extra - it'll be really obvious which end to pull. I can't tell you how many times I've screwed it up before I learned that trick!

If you have to frog again (hope not!), maybe the putting it in the freezer trick that is supposed to make mohair easier to frog, will help keep the yarn intact.

I have frogged the same yarn (Divine), for the 5th time. I have come to the conclusion that the scarf project is just not going to happen so I am putting it aside before I drive self nuts. I ribbed for a hat and it was - thank goodness - easy.
