After Shot and Upside Down

I blame it on the yarn fumes. How else could I have forgotten to post an after shot of my newly organized stash?

Now, not everything you're seeing is knitting stash. There is my cross stitch stuff, Mr. Batty's miniature box, a dead laptop...
But it doesn't matter. There's all this new room, and all the yarn is safely tucked away. I'm a happy knitter.

To quote Monty Python's Flying Circus: "And now, for something completely different..."

An upside down shot of my progress on Tangerine Twist, or rather, Dusky Pink Twist, and some observations on knitting and photography.

Have you noticed how difficult it can be to photograph cables? Here, I'm using flash, and the color is very true to the original. But what of the Little Waves pattern? It's nearly invisible.

Same lighting, same everything, no flash. The cables stand out in beautiful relief, perfectly visible, lovely. Only the color is... less than pretty. Washed out orangey pink that looks like I stuffed my WIP in the washer with the husband's brown polo shirt and it bled. I guess you can't get both cables and perfect color with cheap artificial light!

I have started the heel on my Jaywalkers. After the many assurances that I am indeed not the last knitter on this green earth who is knitting these socks, I feel somewhat better. Not that I'm a trendsetter, or even trendy enough to follow the latest trend. But this is a very popular pattern, and I seriously hope I won't run into the many sizing problems people have had with this.

Next up: MS3 and the beads (sounds like a bad 80's band), more Jaywalker, and some mindless knitting.

If you are using a normal non fancy digital camera there should be a setting for indoor light that will give you trueer colors.

Very impressed with such a tidy stash. I need to do mine but I've lost my 'round-to-it'.

Congrats on the stash reorganization! That must feel good.

I have the same problems with photographing. I like natural light best for capturing textures, but then the colors aren't always true. Sometimes I can fix them pretty well in Photoshop.

Love your Jaywalker! What yarn is that?

where? where? the yarn stores in the Cape? your stash looks pretty under control now, good job!

Your stash looks nice & organized now.

I know what you mean about flash/no flash, I have a lot of trouble doing close ups. But your Pink Twist looks great. - zuma

I've tried that indoor light setting for getting good pictures of cables/patterns. Yeah, maybe it's operator error, but it never worked that well for me!

I love your upside down pictures!!

I made my Jaywalkers and then gifted them to someone with no intention of ever doing so and they fit her just fine...or so she said! You'll be fine.

I hear you about taking photos indoors. I have yet to download the instructions for my hand-me-down digi cam, so I'm winging it a lot. Thank goodness for knowing where my macro button is.

Great Tangerine Twist and may your Jaywalkers fit w/no problems!

Trying to photograph my knitting always drives me bonkers! There's always something that doesn't come out properly!

Your sock is coming along beautifully :)

The closet looks impressive. I went home the other night and organized my little 3 drawer stash chest due to your inspiration and it looks so much better!

I hope all goes well with the pre-marriage counseling. I will let you know in a post next week!
Have a great weekend.

Your neat stash leaves me a bit green with envy. As does your Pink Twist :) I have never knit a pair of Jaywalkers, so you are not the last person on earth to make a pair :)

Your Jaywalker yarn is lovely! And they're looking sharp. My second one is frogged and in time out. Maybe I'll bring out my Jaywalker yarn and make it look at yours for motivation. But that just makes me sound weird.

The fit is actually quite perfect on mine - it's just that getting them on is kind of like shimmying into a pair of tight jeans.

Hey, I just started my first pair of jaywalkers too :)

We can be the last people on earth to start them together!

I hear MS3 and the Beads are playing Lollapalooza this year...

I haven't knit the Jays either. They are tempting but I'm also leaning to a man's scarf in the pattern (turtlegirl I think). Where do I find the Jaywalker pattern?
I think you and I need to go buy more yarn - we don't have as much as other people.

Oh - wait a second, I just did!
*insubordiknit - earthy treasure
Really trying to resist yarn pirate - I got in on her sock club and I want to buy all her colour ways.

Can I tempt you into reorganizing my stash closet?

The twist is looking great!!

You're on the home stretch of the tangerine twist. It's going to look wonderful on you. I just bought some modular shelving cubbies for the ol' stash. The hard part will be rearranging to make them fit.

Now that you've showed us your closet - show us your sock drawer! Tag- you're it.

Your stash looks great! You have inspired me to organize mine, hopefully this time the inspiration will last long enough to actually organize the yarn ;-)
and just as fleegle said, I haven't knit a pair of jaywalkers either.

Nothing like an organized stash to get you going again!

Hello Batty! My pasties stayed put with eyelash glue. Right through a good flat vacuuming. I am pleased I live 2 floors up.

does that neatly organized stash make you want more yarn? yum.
I know what you mean about the camera. I take at least a dozen to get one that I like.
