The Mojo Returns

The mojo has returned! I am still cooking and baking, but this time around, I have also been knitting. Yesterday, I made corn chowder from scratch. Don't do this on a weeknight. I cut the corn from 4, grated the corn off of the other 6, and milked them all with a butter knife. Wow, that's a lot of work! The chowder came out great, and I'll definitely make it again, but not in the middle of the week.

I also went yarn shopping. Yes, this is sock yarn. I've been looking at this particular skein for months. Every time I went to Windsor Button, I'd pick it up, fondle it, and put it back. Tonight, it came home with me. Isn't it beautiful? A little darker than our bedding, but look how it matches the sheets and the comforter!

There has also been progress on the Dad Sweater sleeve. Notice how I took a picture of the knit (wrong) side? That's because I do reverse stockinette so rarely, it didn't even register I was looking at the wrong thing. Oh, well. Next progress pic will be of the purl side.

While I was at the yarn store, I also found this adorable book. I'm 30-something years old and consider myself a professional, but there is something about happily smiling crochet critters I find irresistible. I think it has to do with hormones. Really, I can't explain it any other way.

It's going to be great crochet practice! I already have all this acrylic sitting around upstairs. Now I have a use for it. I think I'll try my hand at this over the weekend.

Cute looking book! I've totally been wanting to crochet a chihuahua lately... Amigurumi is just too fun.

I love that yarn - what is the color name?

I picked it up last week. I couldn't resist either (the eggs got me). Too bad I still haven't quite figured out the whole crochet thing.

Love the yarn! It was obviously meant for you because it didn't go home with anyone else. :-)

Yeah those little animals are adorable no matter what your age.

Hee hee, I'm with you--I save all my big cooking for weekends!

I want to learn to crochet just so I can make cute little guys like that.

Can't wait to see some cute crochet critters! As well as the socks you make from that lovely yarn. Obviously it was destined to come home with you.

How cute would it be to have a little (or huge) basketful of the little critters, waiting to be handed out to only the most special trick-or-treaters or something? Or as place-markers at a casual dinner?

The idea alone is sweet enough to raise my blood sugar.

Very pretty new yarn! New yarn is always the best.

I love the happy little critters. I look forward to seeing them parade across your blog as you crochet them up.

It is always a good thing to match your socks to your bedding. :)

don't know I've had a hankering to crochet critters lately too! I don't even know how to read a crochet pattern, but it may drive me to figure it out. lOL

Cute is a state of mind, not age. ;) I decided to start learning how to crochet (as opposed to just telling myself I would learn how someday) a few days ago, when I saw a Muppet Eyeglasses Holder!

You know what else? They could be cat toys!

Now I want that skein of yarn, in that color, the awesome little crocheted animals book, and a HUGE bowl of corn chowder (preferably made by you, since you seem to know what you are doing.) :) Can't wait to see that yarn take 'sock' form!

I love that book. That's where the pattern for my blue octopus came from. :)

Cats love amigurumi toys too.
