Bats, cats and a birthday gift

I know, I know, I've been pretty sporadic about the blogging lately. With a new job, frantic finishing of secret knitting, and my upcoming LSAT (I think I'm insane, I must be, because all my lawyer buddies tell me you have to be to apply to law school, but I want to go so badly, I'm doing it anyway), I haven't had much time to devote to projects that lend themselves to posting about. On the bright side, I just finished all the frogging and knitting on said secret project (Jacque, you're gonna love it!). And I haven't been led astray by any knitty people with excellent fashion sense. Unlike, say, the time chemgrrl tempted me into checking out a site with wonderful clothes, including this bat dress.

Yeah. It's a summer dress. With bats. How am I supposed to resist?

Then, there are the kittens. This is their new favorite toy, a cat scratchie with a ball. Morgana is all happy and perky, which makes me very happy because we had a bit of a scare this morning. You see, Mr. Batty saw her running out of the bathroom like she was being chased, and he noticed that she was pursued by something she thought she'd buried... attached to her butt with a strand of my hair. Of course, I freaked out, because I was afraid my hair was going to cause a blockage in her little kitten tummy. So tomorrow, I'm getting a haircut. I love my kittens, I want them to be OK!

See the little make-up bag sitting on top of the lime green monstrosity? It's part of my birthday gift from the fabulous Rosi. It turns out her birthday is a day before mine, and we decided to do a gift swap.

I'm extremely happy with my gift! Even before I read the sticky note that was attached to the make-up bag, I thought, "Oooh, it's the perfect project bag!" -- and that's exactly what she had intended it for. It's a sock knitting bag, not a make-up bag, and it even has a compartment for notions! I also got some wonderful soap that looks like she made it herself and smells wonderful, candy in a future stitch marker box, and yarn. Pretty purple yarn, in mohair and in alpaca. I'm thinking either a hat and a scarf, or a hat with both yarns held together. We'll see.

That's it for today, but I promise to get back to you soon with pictures of some actual knitting. I just got the yarn for Eunny Jang's Tangled Yoke Cardigan. It's pretty!

CUTE dress! Looks great on you.

BTW - how are you enjoying the cats' Turbo Scratcher? Sally absolutely goes to town on hers, and my former roommate found it endlessly entertaining. Honestly she played with it as much as the cat did.

I'm out of cardboard refills at the moment and Sally's been eyeing the furniture!

I love the bat dress, oh it totally needs a knitted shrug.

One time one of my cats ate yarn and it came out the other end, and she has since avoided my yarn. Yarn is more dangerous than hair though. I don't think hair should be dangerous.

They are still adorable. My cats love that toy. Oh! They love love the laser light, that is hours of fun!

That bat dress kicks ASS! Awesome. And don't you just love Rosi? I got one of those project bags too and think it's ingenious! And the Catalina - that's the stuff I got for my bday from my family. ohmygoditsfreakinsoft. Yeah. Hat. Or something close to the skin.

When was the last "short" haircut that you got?

I love the dress! You're tiny. I want to send you a sandwich. Made of cheese and mayonnaise ;)

Batty, you look fabulous in your bat dress :) Just fab!! I agree with Zonda, a little black shrug or bolero to go with it year round! Seriously, how perfect would that dress be around Halloween!!!

And what a perfect birthday swap!! You could also maybe use both yarns to make the "Purl Scarf" too.

You know what I think...you need to knit a wrap with points along the hem like bat wings...when you spread it, it will look like you're flying. You could put two little red buttons at the top to look like eyes.

Knit a bat cape!

And, HEY! How come no pics of my wonderful Mystery Box!? I put a lot of thought into that!

Well, not a lot. Maybe a few minutes.

Okay, about 30 seconds. But still, there was thought! Yorkie thought is worth a lot!

Oh, Yorkie's bat cape idea is a brilliant one. You. Must. Make. It. Or Yorkie could make it and send it to you. Either way works for me. The dress is awesome! For me, finding a dress that matched my name would be bittersweet. Who wants a dress with poop all over it?

How short are you going with your hair? Just wondering....

Isn't the tangled yoke cardigan lovely? Ahem. Not nearly as lovely as your kitties, though. What sweet little things!

The makeup bag idea is brilliant. If DH finds that my odd assortment of makeups stored in the zippy pockety makeup bag is suddenly strewn around in the cabinet (and says something - which I wouldn't blame him for, since I'm disorderly like that) I will blame you! Except it would be difficult, somehow, to blame someone in a bat dress. Which, btw, is wonderful.

I LOVE that dress! It looks great on you! And, I'm with Annie: I also want to send you a sandwich. Or maybe a Triple Whopper Meal from Wendy's. Supersized. :D

Tiny people look GREAT in spaghetti strap dresses! Me huge people look so-so. :)

Law School! WOW. I only joke about that. :) I'll be lucky if I ever finish my MLIS.
