We saw the Harlot!

Last night, Eileen (aka lindydiva) and I went to see the Yarn Harlot in Burlington, MA. It was a fun and eventful evening, starting with a little involuntary "detour" that landed me in unknown yet creepy parts of Pawtucket, RI. Thank goodness for cell phones with navigation!

In spite of this initial setback, I made it to Eileen's and we set off for Burlington. There was some confusion over Barnes and Noble (which I'd been to before) and Borders (had to use navigation to get there), but we made it just in time to sneak into the back row.
The view was amazing. Knitters everywhere. And the Harlot.

We knit.

We waited in line (person to the right is Lick My Sticks!).

And then, we met the Harlot! She held our socks, we got to hold her sock, it was amazing.

And thanks to Eileen's direction sense, we took only one wrong turn on the way back. I can't claim any credit for getting us back home.

Update on the kitty situation: we fell in love with two adorable kitties, but they're still being treated for ringworm. We're going back to the shelter tomorrow, when the feline care coordinator gets back from a trip, and we'll learn when we get to take our new babies home!

I'm impressed; fast blogging!

It was great to hear Stephanie again, and now I have all of the books. Thanks, Batty! (Don't forget to send me the photos, please! =^..^=)

I'm glad you got to see/hear the Yarn Harlot. She is an amazing woman. Her talk in Northampton inspired me--I still think about her point that many small actions add up to something greater (when she was talking about knitters being super responders). It is an approach you can apply to almost any aspect of your life.

Anyway, looks like you had a great time. You got some wonderful photos. It's too bad one of your "detours" didn't lead you to a yarn store, but hey--nothing's perfect!

YAY! You got to see the Harlot! I wish I lived in an area that is on her tour but I digress -- I will just keep reading her blog. I'm glad you had such a nice time. I can't wait to see the kitties!
Have a great weekend.

Yay - fun! I just love seeing the YH - it's not so much a book read/signing as it is a Knitting-Rally. Gets you all inspired. - zuma

Sounds like you had a good time!

I need to check out the scheudles and see if she'll be around here anytime. I've never been to any type of knitting event - might be a lot of fun.

What an adventure! Now that I'm living between Seattle and Portland, I hope I can see Stephanie in one or the other city the next time she tours.

I look forward to seeing pictures of your new kitties. Our new home, although very nice, has a no pet rule. So, we won't be getting a new cat any time soon. Oh well. I'm sure you'll share some kitty antics.

Awesome! I get to see Stephanie on Sept. 18! I'm so excited! It's so comforting to know that you really aren't as abnormal about your knitting obsession as you may at first suspect, isn't it? LOL

I just read the Harlot's blog about her visit & wondered if you went.

And you weren't one of the ones pelting her w/white undies, were you? It would've been fun if you did & they were goth ones instead. ;)

I saw her last year and it was so fun to see & hear the voice behind the writing.

I love hearing the Harlot speak. It is such a great experience. And a little lost on the way road story always adds to the setting of the story.

Isn't the Harlot fun? Just being in the same room with all those knitters just hits you where it counts, you know? ;)
